Writing was always really easy for me, also as easy as it's been to bullshit my way out of the most inconvenient situations known to man. Which is precisely the reason it's shocking that I never tried to start my own blog. I have so much to say, or write about, that it's almost impossible to understand how it is that I never even tried before. And believe me, people want to know about my prose and gossip. My exclusive opinions on things I almost know nothing about.
While going through my degree, I struggled the most with keeping my work under a certain amount of words. I found that it was almost impossible to say what I wanted to say without compromising the limit by at least a few thousand words.
Whether this is a God given gift or a curse for anybody attempting to keep up with my bullshit, that's up to you to decide. After all, writing is not made for oneself, but for anybody else willing to spend time reading the result and making conclusions about it.
In any case, I've been so obsessed about reading other people's takes on AI, and all the anger they dump on the entire tech industry, that somehow something snapped in me. Of course, I have not written a single word until now, not for the internet I haven't, but if there was ever a time to do so, it's now. We are in an environment so polluted with generated content that organically coming up with a thought on paper is enough to gather an audience.
Personally, I think the internet was all shit way before OpenAI came up with ChatGPT, or GitHub slung Copilot, and then that guy came up with a website that was meant to be a collective call to action on an actual lawsuit to stop Microsoft from leeching code to train their fucking monster. I should know the name of the guy and link the website, but I kind of totally forgot about it, almost.
Yes, the internet was crap, do not lie to yourself. The decline started in 2006 with Facebook becoming ubiquitous, the de facto place to be. Everything after that contributed to making it a place so far removed from what it was in the '90s that it might as well have been a creation of the devil himself.
I would argue, for the sake of it, that if the cutoff date for training models was the 30th of December 1999 (not to overflow any clocks), the whole thing would be far less likely to hallucinate low effort solutions, since React wasn't a thing back then. It would have been a never-ending stream of racial epithets, name-calling, and quality code, all of which the FBI hates, making it an actually useful artifact, instead of the shoehorned new button on every fucking software implementation since 2022.
Now, of course, some people will say this is an extremely narrow-minded opinion, probably stemming from the lack of social skills of a disgusting nerd. If you think that, you're right.
I was a nerd, I am a nerd, and was a nerd before they cliched the fuck out of the word. Way before watching The Big Bang Theory made you one. Way before you were born. I was already out there collecting thoughts about things, perhaps only to wait for Sam Altman to fuck everything up decades later so I could start my blog. A blog that, while incredibly opinionated, unstructured, and even vulgar, is, at least, written by a fucking person.
So yeah. This is an opinion blog with an emphasis on tech, politics, and current happenings.
